Yoann Fournier, 2020 Engineers Trophies public award

This application allows you to scan an object with a smartphone to 3D print it. It will allow anyone who wishes to create a spare part for a broken object themselves.

For Yoann Fournier: “Waste is a plague of the mass consumption society. When the price of a repair exceeds 30% of the item's value, the consumer prefers to throw it away. Yet nearly 9 in 10 people say they've tried to repair something or at least have tried to determine the cause of the breakage. Scan It will offer an alternative solution: create a spare part yourself, at a lower cost. The application is still in development, but the first results are very promising. My goal is to democratize 3D scanning, which is currently very expensive. "

Student at Grenoble INP - Esisar, Yoann has chosen to do his 5th year at Grenoble INP - Ense3. This other Grenoble INP - UGA school indeed offers a semester dedicated to innovation marketing that will help the student create his start-up at the end of his studies.
 

Create a spare part yourself

Concretely, with Scan It, it will be possible to scan any object via a smartphone camera. This object will be modeled in 3D by the application, no knowledge of CAD is necessary. The 3D model can be personalized by the user: color,texture ...
The model will then be sent to Scan It headquarters, which will manufacture it using a 3D printer and ship it to the person who ordered it.
 

Develop skills through international mobility

During his studies at Grenoble INP - Esisar, Yoann Fournier has acquired skills in programming and embedded systems. During an exchange semester * in New Zealand (Otago Polytechnic), in his 4th year, he developed a strong interest in Artificial Intelligence and 3D printing.

For Yoann Fournier: "This project allows me to combine my different skills: web development and 3D printing, but also artificial intelligence and automatic modeling."
